The estate
Domenico Clerico is an Italian winery that harks back to 1977. It was then that Domenico acquired a plot of vines in Bussia, a vineyard located in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. 1979 marked the first vintage of the estate.
Domenico Clerico now oversees a 21-hectare vineyard in the Barolo appellation in Piedmont, northern Italy. Following his death in 2017, Oscar Arrivabene and Giulana Clerico took over the running of the estate and produce wines that each exude an alluring precision and a pleasant aromatic expression.
The vineyard
This Barolo wine by Domenico Clerico has been made since 2011 from vines planted in 1968 and 2005. These vineyards face south-east and east and are rooted in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba.
The vintage
The winter and spring were marked by cool, wet conditions. The summer heat and particularly mild weather conditions enabled the grapes to reach an optimal ripeness level before the harvest.
Vinification and ageing
Aged in oak barrels and large casks.
