Description

A fine Amarone Valpolicella Classico wine with a seductive elegance and complexity

The estate

Founded in 1924 by Silvio Quintarelli, the eponymous estate started a new chapter in its history when Giusepppe, Silvio's youngest son, took over its running in the 1950s.

Regarded as the father of the iconic Veneto wine, Amarone, Giuseppe Quintarelli influenced many with his forward thinking spirit and left his mark on generations of winemakers.

Located in northern Italy in the heart of the Valpolicella region, the estate reigns over a 12-hectare vineyard. Produced in limited quantities, these wines are unique in that they are made using the traditional appassimento drying technique and are aged for a long period of time.

The wine

The flagship of the estate's range of wines, Quintarelli's Amarone Valpolicella Classico is a Veneto wine produced only in exceptional years. This emblematic wine offers an alluring refinement, smoothness and persistence.

Vinification and ageing

Rigorously sorted in the vineyard, the grapes are then placed on wooden crates and racks where they undergo natural drying. The first signs of noble rot appear at the end of November - beginning of December and the grapes are delicately pressed at the end of January. Maceration for around 20 days precedes alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts for 45 days. The wine is then aged in Slavonian oak barrels for seven years, during which time other alcoholic fermentations are naturally carried out, enhancing the structure and complexity of this fine wine.

The blend

Corvina and Corvinone (55%)

Rondinella (30%)

Cabernet, Nebbiolo, Croatina and Sangiovese (15%).
