The Pure, Mineral Expression of a Great Chablis Terroir
The Estate
Officially founded in 1974 in Préhy, the Jean-Marc Brocard estate is a leading figure in Burgundy. Covering around 200 hectares, this family property quickly made a name for itself thanks to its environmentally respectful approach. Today, it is run by the new generation, notably Julien Brocard and his sister Céline. A true pioneer in the region, the estate stands out for its strong commitment to sustainable viticulture, with a growing share of its vineyards certified organic and biodynamic, thus revealing the full authenticity of its terroirs.
The Vineyard
This wine comes from the renowned Montée de Tonnerre climat, located within the Chablis Premier Cru appellation. The vines, around thirty years old, thrive on a Kimmeridgian terroir typical of the region. These ancient soils, composed of clay-limestone marls rich in marine fossils, give the grapes a unique identity marked by deep minerality and great freshness.
Winemaking and Ageing
The harvested grapes are received by gravity in order to preserve the integrity of the berries. Alcoholic fermentation of Chablis 1er cru "Montée de Tonnerre" 2023 is carried out using indigenous yeasts, with temperatures controlled between 18 and 20°C. Full malolactic fermentation then follows. Finally, the wine is aged for 14 months exclusively in stainless steel tanks on its lees, allowing it to develop its texture while retaining exceptional aromatic purity.
Grape Variety
100% Chardonnay.
