Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of L'Esprit de Chevalier Blanc 2025
Tasting
Nose
The floral and fruity bouquet unfolds with delicate notes of spring white blossoms — hawthorn and elderflower — harmoniously blended with aromas of ripe white fruits, mirabelle plum and pear, enhanced by hints of vineyard peach and a fine citrus liveliness.
Palate
The palate is full, ample and enlivened by a crisp, generous fruitiness, carried by remarkable freshness and purity, the true signatures of this vintage. The balance is natural and flavoursome, while a refined, delicately saline finish brings a beautiful mineral touch that prolongs the elegance of the whole.
A radiant and balanced Second Wine of white Pessac-Léognan
The estate
Owned by the Bernard family since 1983, the magnificent Domaine de Chevalier stands among the very finest Classified Growths of Bordeaux. The estate lies at the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, set within a verdant haven to the south of Bordeaux. L'Esprit de Chevalier is the estate's second wine.
The vineyard
Domaine de Chevalier is a Pessac-Léognan wine produced from a rare 67-hectare vineyard, resting on a terroir of gravel with clay-gravel subsoils, including 7 hectares dedicated to white wine. Since 1986, the younger vines have been used to ripen the berries that go into the blend of the estate's second wine, L'Esprit de Chevalier.
The vintage
The 2025 vintage benefited from exceptional climatic conditions: a rainy winter ensuring ample water reserves, a mild spring favouring an early and even flowering, followed by a hot, dry summer allowing optimal ripening of the grapes. The harvest, spread from late August to 26 September, was carried out under excellent conditions, with satisfying yields. The result is wines of great aromatic richness, combining freshness, complexity and elegance, in both white and red.
Winemaking and ageing
After manual harvesting into crates, during which 3 to 5 meticulous sorting passes are performed according to ripeness, settling is followed by fermentation in barrels. Finally, the wine is aged in barrels for 9 months. Alcohol content: 13% vol.
Blend
Sauvignon Blanc (70%)
Sémillon (30%).
