Decanter

Vivid and vibrant blackcurrant aromas on the nose with some blueberry and crayon touches too. Succulent and juicy but perfectly matched so you get this cool but supple blueberry aspect alongside really mint, wet stone, graphite and flint touches. But not too dry at all. Subtly textured but overall really well balanced and focused with a long finish. Nicely structured so you're getting a wide filling wine with no heaviness. Clearly full of tannins but they widen the expression and with the acidity it’s not too much.

The nose is all about its red and purple flower aromatics. The medium-bodied palate is where the fruit comes in. Cherries, red plums, and licorice show through easily with a vibrant, soft, easy-to-like character. This will be gorgeous on release, and yet it also has the ability to age for 12–15 years. The wine blends 83% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Petit Verdot. 13.51% ABV. Drink from 2028–2040. 91–93 Pts

The bouquet’s fruit-driven expression highlights the generosity of Merlot and the freshness of Cabernet, even though it accounts for only 9%. The aromas are clear and precise. The wine has real character and affirms its St-Julien identity through both its power and its harmony. Driven by fine-grained tannins, it is inviting, charming, vigorous and harmonious! A very worthy ambassador that carries its power and aromatic expression with serenity.

The elegance of a Saint-Julien wine crafted by Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

The estate
Acquired by Bertrand Ducru in 1797, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou spans 105 hectares of deep gravel soils scattered with the iconic large pebbles in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, in the Bordeaux Médoc. The Borie family has owned this estate since 1941, when Francis Borie acquired it. This 2nd Growth of the 1855 Classification is today led by Bruno-Eugène Borie, who upholds the excellence of the property. The Victorian château overlooking the cellars has produced three distinct cuvées since its restructuring.

The vineyard
The grapes used for this cuvée come mainly from the estate's western plots, located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. This terroir lies on Günzian gravel soils, slightly less deep than those bordering the estuary. The vines, planted at a high density of 10,000 plants per hectare, benefit from environmentally respectful management, the estate applying methods drawn from organic farming to preserve the vitality of its soils and biodiversity.

The vintage
The 2025 vintage stands as the earliest in the estate's history. The vegetative cycle began with an early spring, leading to early budburst, flowering and veraison. Between May and July, the vines endured significant water stress, naturally limiting yields and producing small, highly concentrated berries. Fortunately, providential rainfall at the end of the summer season helped preserve all the freshness of the fruit. The harvest thus took place swiftly, from 2 to 23 September.

Grape varieties
This blend is composed of 83% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. Alcohol content: 13.51% vol.
