Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru "Les Feusselottes" Domaine Louis Jadot 2022
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a brilliant ruby hue of medium intensity, adorned with an elegant transparency that may occasionally display subtle garnet highlights around the rim.
Nose
Particularly expressive, the bouquet releases vibrant aromas of fresh red fruits such as cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry. It is enriched with delicate floral notes reminiscent of rose and violet, underlined by subtle touches of white pepper, vanilla and refined oak. With time, nuances of black tea, undergrowth and a lovely minerality may emerge.
Palate
The attack is supple, opening onto a beautifully delicate mid-palate. The velvety texture rests on silky, perfectly integrated tannins. The balance between substance and acidity brings great freshness, leading into a long, lingering finish with fruity, floral, mineral and spicy accents.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs wonderfully with refined dishes such as roast poultry, guinea fowl, pork tenderloin or veal. It also brilliantly accompanies elegant regional cuisine such as duck breast, beef Wellington, mushroom-based dishes, or lightly aged soft cheeses such as brie or a young reblochon.
Serving and cellaring
Endowed with a beautiful structure, this cuvée has excellent ageing potential and will continue to gain complexity and evolve favourably over a period of several years.
The delicacy and pure expression of a Burgundy Premier Cru
The estate
Officially founded in 1859 in Beaune, Maison Louis Jadot is a true institution in Burgundy. While the family's winemaking history began as early as 1826 with the acquisition of a first vineyard, it was over the following decades that the estate built its reputation. Now owned by the Kopf family through the Kobrand company and led by Thomas Seiter, the house stands out for its commitment to faithfully expressing the identity of each terroir. Deeply engaged in a sustainable environmental approach, it shines across the world while preserving its historical roots.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the Les Feusselottes climat, a terroir classified as Premier Cru located on the hillsides of the village of Chambolle-Musigny, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. The vines thrive on predominantly limestone soils mixed with varying proportions of clay, benefiting from an ideal exposure for grape ripening. The estate applies sustainable viticulture practices, promoting biodiversity protection, soil cover cropping and a significant reduction of inputs in order to preserve the health of this exceptional terroir.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage stands out for conditions that allowed the berries to reach a truly beautiful ripeness. This generous vintage offers grapes with excellent concentration, giving the wine great depth while preserving its structure and natural freshness.
Vinification and ageing
For the Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru "Les Feusselottes" Dom. Louis Jadot 2022, vinification begins with alcoholic fermentation in vats under careful temperature control. Measured pigeages and pump-overs are carried out to gently extract colour and tannins. The wine is then aged for 15 to 18 months in the cellars of Beaune, in oak barrels produced by the house's own cooperage. The proportion of new oak remains moderate in order to respect the purity of the fruit and the identity of the climat.
