Description
The elegance and complexity of a Grand Cru from Burgundy
The estate
Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Domaine Louis Jadot stands as a true institution in Burgundy. Owned by the American Kopf family since 1985, the house is today led by Thomas Seiter, with Thibault Gagey serving as general manager. The estate oversees a vast vineyard of approximately 270 hectares spread across the region's finest appellations. A staunch advocate of sustainable viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking, the estate reached a major milestone in 2024 by obtaining organic certification for its own vines.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the prestigious Musigny, a Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits located in the village of Chambolle-Musigny. The estate cultivates a tiny plot of 0.1665 hectare here. Rising between 260 and 300 metres in altitude, this singular terroir is distinguished by a pronounced slope resting on a limestone bedrock dating back to the Jurassic period. The shallow soils are particularly rich in red clay in their upper layer, providing ideal conditions for the vines to flourish.
Grape variety
This Musigny Grand Cru Domaine Louis Jadot 2023 from Louis Jadot is 100% Pinot Noir.
