The authentic expression of a great Pernand-Vergelesses wine
The estate
Officially founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, following the acquisition of the first family vines in 1826, Maison Louis Jadot is a leading institution in France. Based in Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, the estate is today led by its president Thomas Seiter. This hybrid estate and négociant house oversees around 225 hectares of vineyards. Renowned for its iconic label adorned with the head of Bacchus, the house stands out for its commitment to expressing the authenticity of each terroir and its dedication to sustainable viticulture.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the Clos de la Croix de Pierre, an emblematic plot located at the heart of the Premier Cru climat En Caradeux, within the Pernand-Vergelesses appellation. The vineyard thrives on well-exposed east and south-west facing slopes, at an altitude ranging between 260 and 380 metres. The soils are limestone-based and very stony on the surface, providing excellent natural drainage. Viticulture here is carried out with an environmentally responsible approach, favouring the preservation of biodiversity and the vitality of the soils.
Winemaking and aging
For this Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru "Clos de la Croix de Pierre" 2023, the house favours a traditional approach. Maceration and fermentation take place in vats. The wine is then aged for around fifteen months in oak barrels, crafted by the estate's own cooperage. This in-house expertise allows for a measured and elegant integration of the wood, perfectly respecting the personality of the climat.
