Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes" 2024 Louis Latour

Tasting

Colour
This white wine from France reveals a delicate pale yellow hue.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with scents of toasted hazelnut and beeswax, complemented by notes of ripe fruit such as peach and apricot.

Palate
Full-bodied and seductive, the palate offers a velvety, generous texture. It reveals flavours of fresh hazelnut mingled with subtle smoky and toasted touches. The wine lingers long toward a saline, mineral finish of impressive persistence.

Food and Wine Pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with vol-au-vent, veal rump, freshwater pike, or morel-based dishes. It also perfectly accompanies seafood in creamy sauces, rich shellfish such as lobster or scallops, as well as aged cheeses.

Service and Storage

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve the Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes" 2024 at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth but will continue to evolve favourably until around 2031, or even until 2039 for those who prefer more mature profiles.

The Richness and Minerality of a White Meursault Wine

The Estate

Officially founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is an emblematic institution of Burgundy, established in the village of Aloxe-Corton. This historic family estate oversees a 48-hectare vineyard, including 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru, making it the largest property of this rank in the region. Now led by Florent Latour, who represents the eleventh generation, the estate stands out for its deep commitment to sustainable viticulture, crowned by organic certification in 2025, as well as for owning its own traditional cooperage.

The Vineyard

Located south of the Côte de Beaune, the plot classified as premier cru "Charmes" lies just south of the village of Meursault. The vines, averaging thirty-five years of age, thrive on rich, heavy soils composed of stony marl and Jurassic limestone. This mineral-rich, well-drained terroir, cultivated with controlled yields of 40 hectolitres per hectare, benefits from environmentally friendly practices, including the use of natural predators to protect the vines.

Winemaking and Aging

The harvest for the Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes" 2024 is carried out entirely by hand. The grapes are immediately sorted and then pressed directly without destemming, preserving the purity of the juice and limiting oxidation. Fermentation, including complete malolactic fermentation, takes place traditionally in oak barrels. Aging then continues for 8 to 10 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, crafted by the estate's own cooperage, with a proportion of 50% new barrels and 50% one-wine barrels.

Grape Variety

100% Chardonnay.
