Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" 2024 by Louis Latour

Tasting

Appearance
The wine reveals a luminous pale gold hue.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens on notes of citrus and fresh almond, delicately complemented by hints of honey.

Palate
The palate offers a round and lingering texture, marked by a characteristic buttery richness. This generosity is perfectly balanced by aromas of spiced exotic fruits and a refreshing acidity, leading to a long finish that faithfully expresses the minerality of its terroir.

Food and wine pairings

This white wine pairs ideally with delicate fish such as sole meunière, seafood such as oysters or langoustines, as well as foie gras. It also wonderfully accompanies poultry in cream sauce and aged cheeses such as Brie or Camembert.

Serving and cellaring

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" 2024 at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. This wine can be enjoyed now or cellared until around 2031.

The authentic expression of a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru

The estate

Officially founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is a historic institution of Burgundy, located in Aloxe-Corton, France. This family-owned and independent estate, now led by Florent Latour and Eléonore Latour, oversees a 48-hectare vineyard. A rare feature in the region, the estate owns its own cooperage, ensuring complete control over the ageing of its wines. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the house practises certified sustainable viticulture.

The vineyard

The "La Garenne" climat is a high-altitude vineyard, reaching between 360 and 380 metres, located at the northern edge of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. Facing south-east, the vines, averaging 35 years of age, thrive on shallow, stony soils composed of limestone, scree and clay resting on limestone slabs. This unique terroir promotes optimal drainage and slow ripening of the grapes, thereby preserving their natural freshness.

Winemaking and ageing

After entirely hand-harvested grapes, those destined for Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" 2024 are pressed directly. Traditional fermentation, including malolactic fermentation, takes place entirely in oak barrels. The wine then benefits from ageing for 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels (of which 50% are new with a medium toast), meticulously crafted by the estate's own cooperage.

Grape variety

100% Chardonnay.
