Description
A rich and well-balanced Volnay Premier Cru wine
The estate
Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is currently managed by the family’s 11th generation, headed by Louis-Fabrice Latour. As a wine merchant and producer, Maison Louis Latour owns the largest estate of Grands Crus in Burgundy.
The vineyard
Louis Latour's 2015 "En Chevret" is a Volnay 1er cru wine made from around 25-year-old vines that rest on clay-limestone soils. Located to the south of Beaune and close to Pommard, this climat "En Chevret" is known for its exceptional terroir, its optimal sun exposure and the elegance of its wines.
Vinification and ageing
Once the grapes have been harvested by hand, fermentation is carried out in a traditional manner in open vats with 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels (35% of which are new), stemming from the Louis Latour cooperage.
The blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
