Maison Trimbach : Riesling "Clos Sainte Hune" 2018

This impressive version offers a lot of umami, with salted herbs and smoke flanked by notes of celery leaf, chives and bitter apple seed. Still tightly coiled and structured, with unbridled power beneath the apple and peach fruit profile. Structured and steely for now, this has a long life ahead in the cellar. Mineral elements take over on the long, intense finish, laced with dried flowers and salt. Drink now through 2035. 950 cases made, 290 cases imported.

Very saline and linear, not yet settled in its tension; patience is required. Today, Frédéric-Émile 2017 offers much more pleasure!

More introverted, Clos Saint-Hune is built around a very firm mid-palate: particularly youthful, it relies on a slender chew with precise bitters, and delivers phenomenal length and vibrancy.
