Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Vosne-Romanée Village Domaine 2024 from Méo-Camuzet
Tasting
Nose
Discreet on opening, the nose needs a little time to reveal itself. It then gives way to an abundance of red and black fruit, accompanied by liquorice, slightly tarry notes and spice. The oak is well integrated.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is initially reserved, then gradually gains in breadth. Powerful, complex and intense, it combines great concentration with a very fine texture.
A Concentrated and Elegant Vosne-Romanée Village, Crafted by Méo-Camuzet
The estate
Based in Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, Domaine Méo-Camuzet officially took its name in 1981. Its landholdings, however, date back to Étienne Camuzet, a winegrower and deputy for the Côte d'Or, and passed to the Méo family in 1959. Owned by the Méo family, the estate is run by Jean-Nicolas Méo, who notably benefited from the guidance of Henri Jayer. The estate farms approximately 17 hectares, from village appellations to grands crus, using viticulture close to organic without certification and a minimal-intervention approach to winemaking.
The vineyard
This Vosne-Romanée comes from two plots within the appellation, "Les Barreaux" and "Les Communes". The former brings freshness and tension, while the latter contributes ripeness and silkiness. The estate practises viticulture close to organic farming, with careful attention paid to the soils.
Vinification and ageing
This Vosne-Romanée is made from hand-harvested, carefully sorted grapes. The two plots are vinified separately before blending, in keeping with a minimal-intervention approach to winemaking. Ageing takes place in barrels.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir
