Description
An expressive Rhône Valley red wine with beautiful structure
The estate
An icon among the great wines of the Northern Rhône Valley, the Paul Jaboulet-Aîné House, founded in 1834 in Tain L’Hermitage, is led by the renowned winemaker and winegrower Caroline Frey. Owned by the Frey family since 2006, this illustrious house oversees 125 hectares of vines spread across prestigious appellations such as Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise.
The Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage vineyards have been farmed biodynamically since 2017.
The vineyard
A benchmark among Cornas wines, Paul Jaboulet-Aîné’s Domaine de Saint-Pierre comes from a steep 3.9-hectare terroir, south-facing and naturally sheltered from cold winds. Located high on the hillside, the 10- to 60-year-old vines thrive in a natural amphitheater on a granite bedrock, with subsoils combining limestone and silty deposits. Domaine de Saint-Pierre has belonged to Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné since 1996.
Grape variety
Paul Jaboulet-Aîné’s Domaine de Saint-Pierre 2000 is made exclusively from Syrah (100%).
