Penfolds : RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz 2014

RWT 2014 from Penfolds : a very soft Barossa Valley wine

RWT from Penfolds is a red wine produced exclusively from Shiraz in the Barossa Valley appellation. The ageing of the wine is carried out in French oak hogsheads barrels for 17 months, 70% in new barrels and 30% in barrels of one previous wine.

With its dark red colour and shades of purple, Penfolds RWT 2014 develops aromas of violets harmoniously blended with cocoa powder and white chocolate. It then releases fruity fragrances of redcurrants and satsuma plums, as well as subtle notes of cranberries, elderberries and blackberries. One may also notice aromas of French cedar oak, pink pepper corns and spices that combine beautifully with balsamic touches. On the palate, the Penfolds RWT 2014 reveals deep flavours of black cherries, mocha, chestnuts and anise before offering hints of cold meat and subtle notes of cola. This wine offers a velvety texture and is soft with light tannins.
