Description

Tasting characteristics and advice for Triple C 2022 Santa Rita

Tasting

Color

The color reveals an intense ruby-red hue, reflecting the wine’s concentration and depth.

Nose

The nose displays remarkable aromatic complexity, with pronounced aromas of licorice and freshly ground black pepper. These are complemented by notes of black cherries, blackberries, blackcurrant, raspberries, chocolate and spices. This aromatic spectrum highlights the harmony between the three grape varieties that make up the blend.

Palate

On the palate, the wine offers a refined balance of raspberries, thyme and smoky notes. The tannins are firm yet polished, bringing structure and elegance. The texture is both smooth and concentrated, with a pleasing finish marked by vegetal nuances that lend freshness and length.

Food and wine pairings

Triple C 2022 pairs perfectly with grilled or roasted red meats, game such as venison, or feathered poultry. It also shines alongside hearty stews, braised meats and barbecue dishes. Pasta with spicy tomato-based sauces also makes an excellent match. For cheese, opt for aged cheeses such as mature Cheddar, aged Gouda, Manchego, aged Pecorino, Comté or Gorgonzola.

Serving and cellaring

To fully enjoy Triple C 2022, serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. Decanting beforehand will help open up the aromas and soften the wine’s tannic structure.

A Bordeaux-style blend reimagined by the Maipo Valley

The estate

Founded in 1880 by Don Domingo Fernández Concha, Viña Santa Rita has established itself as one of the benchmarks of Chilean viticulture. Acquired in 1980 by the Claro Group and under the current leadership of the Claro Group, the estate was named the best winery in the world by Forbes in 2025, a distinction recognizing its historic legacy, its commitment to sustainability and its consistent excellence. Santa Rita also played a major role in the rediscovery of Carménère in 1994, a grape variety that is now emblematic of Chile.

The vineyard

Triple C 2022 comes from two distinct, carefully selected terroirs. Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are sourced from the Alto Jahuel vineyards in the Maipo Valley, located at around 550 meters above sea level and four kilometers from the Maipo River. These parcels benefit from gravelly alluvial-colluvial soils with a notable presence of clay on the surface. Carménère, meanwhile, comes from old vines planted in the Apalta Valley in Colchagua, bringing distinctive spicy characteristics. The semi-arid Mediterranean climate, with a diurnal range of around 20°C, promotes gradual ripening and excellent phenolic development.

The vintage

The 2022 vintage in Chile benefited from favorable weather conditions, making it possible to obtain grapes with beautiful physiological ripeness while preserving freshness and balance in the wines.

Winemaking and aging

Triple C 2022 is aged in French oak barrels, giving the wine subtle notes of vanilla and cedar without masking the fruit expression of the grape varieties. This approach yields a Central Valley wine that is both concentrated and elegant, with a refined tannic structure.
