The elegance of a great Chilean cru from the Aconcagua Valley
The estate
Founded in 1995 through the visionary partnership between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, the Seña brand is now the exclusive property of the Chadwick family. Located in the Aconcagua region, this exceptional estate spans 42 hectares. From the outset, it was designed to elevate Chilean wine to the level of the world's greatest crus. The estate stands out for its commitment to producing Bordeaux-inspired wines while asserting a strong Andean identity, notably through environmentally responsible viticulture.
The vineyard
Located in the Ocoa sector within the Aconcagua Valley, the vineyard extends over hillsides situated around forty kilometres from the Pacific Ocean. The vines benefit from a Mediterranean climate tempered by the cool breezes of the Humboldt current. They thrive on stony, well-drained soils of volcanic and colluvial origin. The entire vineyard is farmed according to biodynamic principles in order to preserve biodiversity and fully express the purity of the terroir.
The wine
The 2023 vintage celebrates the 30th anniversary of this great Chilean wine.
The vintage
The year began with cool conditions before ending on a warmer note. Rainfall was above the usual average. A particularly cool spring delayed both flowering and berry ripening. Although a late-season warm spell helped speed up ripening, harvesting took place later than usual.
Winemaking and ageing
Under the technical direction of winemaker Emily Faulconer, Seña 2024 undergoes careful ageing over a period of 18 months. This process takes place 70% in French oak barrels and 30% in large foudres, preserving the brightness of the fruit while refining the wine's structure.
Grape varieties
This wine is crafted from a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Malbec, 16% Carmenère and 6% Petit Verdot.
