An exceptional Japanese whisky from the legendary Karuizawa distillery
Karuizawa: the heritage of a pioneering Japanese whisky distillery
Founded in 1955 by Daikoku Budoshu in the foothills of Mount Asama, the Karuizawa distillery made history by launching the first Japanese single malt whisky in 1976. Using exclusively golden promise barley and Spanish sherry casks, it produced spirits of remarkable complexity thanks to its unique mountainous terroir. Closed in 2000, this pioneering distillery then belonged to Mercian Corporation. Its four 4,000-litre copper stills made it the smallest Japanese distillery, creating bottlings today of exceptional rarity, highly sought after by international collectors.
Mount Fuji Series: an exceptional collection of rare single casks
The Mount Fuji Series 1999-2000 Fuji View Field in Owari Province Batch 29 represents one of the last testimonies to Karuizawa's excellence. This limited edition comes from bottlings drawn from single casks distilled between 1999 and 2000, just before the distillery's permanent closure. Selected by Spirits Shop Selection of Taiwan under the expertise of Eric Huang, this batch 29 benefited from exclusive aging in a sherry butt.
Made from golden promise barley and bottled at its natural strength of 60.8%, this whisky embodies the Karuizawa philosophy in its purest form. Presented in an elegant case, this spirit is part of the last productions from this renowned, award-winning distillery at international competitions, granting each bottle an invaluable heritage value for lovers of exceptional Japanese whiskies.
