Nose
The bouquet reveals fruit aromas of apricot and banana, accompanied by creamy pastry vanilla notes and a depth of apple tea. Added to this are orange blossom, floral honey and oak spices that enrich the aromatic palette.

Palate
On the palate, notes from sherry casks bring flavors of dried plum and hazelnut, supported by delicate fruitiness and the complexity of acacia honey.

A Japanese whisky imbued with richness and indulgence

The Mars Komagatake distillery, a pioneer of Japanese whisky

Originally from Japan, the Mars distillery was founded by Kiichiro Iwai, a key figure in Japanese whisky and a shochu producer. After closing in 1992 due to declining demand, its main distillery, Komagatake, reopened in 2011. Located at 800 m altitude in a harsh climate, it uses pure spring water filtered by the mountain. Since 2016, Mars also owns the artisanal Tsunuki distillery and a maturation warehouse on the island of Yakushima. With three maturation sites in varied climates, it experiments with the influence of conditions on whisky. Its production remains modest, 60 times lower than that of the largest Japanese distillery.

The Single Malt Komagatake Edition 2022, an exceptional cuvée

The Whisky Komagatake 2022 is a limited edition marking the transition to an annual release that reflects the style of the Mars house. This Japanese whsiky is made from 100% malted barley, distilled in copper stills at the foot of Mount Komagatake. The blend combines primarily bourbon, sherry and port casks.
