The estate
Founded in 1884, the Midorikawa brewery is a true jewel of the Niigata prefecture, in the heart of the ancient village of Koide, in Uonuma City. Renowned for its crystal-clear waters and fertile rice fields, it embodies ancestral craftsmanship. Under the direction of Toshiharu Odaira, the fifth generation at the helm of the brewery, Midorikawa perpetuates a tradition of excellence, favoring absolute purity and an unwavering commitment to quality.
Origins and terroir
Uonuma is an exceptional terroir for rice cultivation. Nourished by crystal-clear water from local snowmelt, the rigorously selected rice varieties give these sakes a unique personality.
