Robert Parker

Joe Czerwinski

Supple, rich and harmonious, the 2019 Lily's Garden Shiraz is drinking beautifully already. Hints of eucalyptus and sage add interest to the mixed-berry fruit, while the medium to full-bodied palate is almost creamy in texture, finishing long and luxuriously silky. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.

Wine Spectator

MaryAnn Worobiec

Delivers maraschino cherry, raspberry coulis, Earl Grey tea and hints of custard on a rich, juicy frame, with accents of dark chocolate, dried herbs, palo santo and tobacco that linger on a long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2038. 600 cases imported.

Wine Enthusiast

Christina Pickard

There's a lovely combo of scrubby fresh herbs like thyme and sage with tart red and black currant and plum, with toasty vanilla oak influence. The mouthfeel is powerful with silky, succulent berry fruit and lifted acidity to keep it from jam territory. A modern style for drinking now or until around 2030.

Description

A generous and round McLaren Vale red wine by Two Hands

The estate

Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz founded Two Hands in 1999, their goal being to produce wines that highlight the nuances and aromatic potential of fine Australian wines.

The vineyard

Spread across six different regions, Two Hands' vineyards produce wines that enhance the potential and nuances of each terroir. Each plot is managed independently, from harvesting, through to fermentation, oak ageing and bottling, in order to allow the wine to express its full character and identity. Since its creation, Two Hands has been committed to producing organic wines. "Quality without compromise" is the core value of this visionary company, be it in the way they make their wines and in their choice of names or labels.

The wine

This 2019 Lily's Garden by Two Hands comprises a blend of the finest Shiraz barrels from the best McLaren Vale terroirs (Blewitt Springs, Clarendon, McLaren Flat, McLaren Vale, Seaview, Tatachilla, Willunga Hills). The vineyards are between 15 to 60 years old and are located between 75 and 320 metres above sea level on sandy maritime and sedimentary soils.

The label’s blue colour resonates with McLaren Vale's geographical proximity to the sea.

The blend

100% Shiraz.
