Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Grüner Veltliner Ried Loibenberg 2025 from Weingut Emmerich Knoll
Tasting
Nose
The nose reveals ripe yet slender yellow fruits, accompanied by subtle notes of meadow herbs and delicate floral touches.
Palate
The palate is linear, both taut and opulent, carried by an elegant acidity that structures the whole. The minerality of the gneiss terroir comes through in a dense texture as well as in a characteristic stony tension.
Food and Wine Pairing
This Grüner Veltliner pairs effortlessly with fish and seafood, as well as with certain Asian dishes, where its freshness and minerality find a fine echo.
Serving and Cellaring
This Grüner Veltliner Ried Loibenberg 2025 is best enjoyed without decanting, served chilled but not ice-cold. It can be enjoyed in its youth while also offering a long ageing potential.

The Estate
Weingut Emmerich Knoll is a family-run estate located in Unterloiben, in the Wachau, in Lower Austria. Renowned for its remarkably precise Grüner Veltliner and Riesling wines, the estate perpetuates a classic style based on maturation in large, old oak casks. It is run today by Emmerich Knoll, Emmerich Hermenegild Knoll and Dipl.-Ing. August Knoll, continuing a family tradition deeply rooted in this exceptional terroir.
The Vineyard
This wine comes from the Ried Loibenberg, one of the most renowned crus of the Wachau, set on steep terraced slopes overlooking the Danube. The soils, composed of gneiss and loess, give the vineyard a pronounced minerality, while the southern exposure ensures generous sunshine, conducive to achieving high levels of ripeness.
Winemaking and Maturation
The winemaking of this Grüner Veltliner Ried Loibenberg 2025 follows the estate's dry, precise style, favouring slow fermentations and maturation in large, old oak casks in order to preserve the purity of the fruit, the expression of this Austrian terroir and the ageing potential.
Grape Variety
100% Grüner Veltliner.
