Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the "Les Pierres Sèches" 2024 Yves Cuilleron

Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals purple hues with ruby highlights.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with crisp notes of fresh, juicy and tangy fruit, underlined by a peppery touch typical of the grape variety.

Palate
The palate opens with abundant juiciness and lovely acidity that brings dynamism. It reveals tannins that are both rustic, smooth and crisp, offering remarkable balance without excessive extraction. The whole stands out for its finesse and freshness.

Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs perfectly with grilled meats such as beef or lamb, spicy Mediterranean specialities such as tagine or moussaka, as well as aged hard cheeses like mature Comté or Manchego.

Service and storage

The "Les Pierres Sèches" 2024 vintage can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve in the cellar until around 2032.

The mineral expression of a Syrah from the Rhône Valley by Yves Cuilleron

The estate

Founded in 1920 by Claude Cuilleron, the family estate is located in Verlieu, at the heart of the Rhône Valley. Since 1987, Yves Cuilleron has been running this estate, which now spans 90 hectares across several appellations. Currently undergoing organic conversion, the winemaker champions a personalised approach, often described as haute couture viticulture. His philosophy is above all to cultivate the best possible grapes, combining modernity, purity and deep respect for the terroir, making this estate one of the most dynamic in the region.

The vineyard

The vines destined for this Saint-Joseph cuvée grow on shallow soils composed of sand and granite. The plots benefit from high-density planting, with between 8,000 and 10,000 vines per hectare, further enhancing the mineral character typical of these soils.

Winemaking and aging

The making of the "Les Pierres Sèches" 2024 relies on a plot-by-plot, traditional approach. After rigorous sorting, the berries undergo crushing and partial destemming. Maceration then takes place in open vats for three weeks. Finally, the wine is aged for 16 months in barrels before the final blending and bottling.
