The Estate
Founded in 1831 in Monthélie by Bernard Bichot, the House of Albert Bichot settled permanently in Beaune, the historic heart of Burgundy, in 1912. Still run by the founding family, it is now led by Albéric Bichot, representing the sixth generation. The house draws on six estates spread from the Chablis region to Beaujolais, totalling approximately 107 hectares of vines, largely certified organic, and complements this production with carefully selected supplies from partners, in the manner of a producer-négociant.
The Vineyard
The Pouilly-Fuissé 1er cru "Clos Reyssié" comes from a climat of 8.70 hectares located in the commune of Chaintré, the southernmost village of the appellation. The vines extend across an east-facing slope, between 230 and 250 metres above sea level, on a shallow, clay-silt soil scattered with rounded pebbles, which promotes both water retention and good drainage.
Vinification and Ageing
For the production of the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er cru "Clos Reyssié" 2022, the grapes are hand-harvested and then sorted before a slow, gentle pressing, carried out with respect for the fruit. Fermentation and ageing then take place on fine lees, half in stainless steel tanks and half in oak barrels, 20% of which are new, over a period of 10 to 12 months, in order to combine freshness, texture and aromatic complexity.
Grape Variety
This cuvée is made from Chardonnay.
