Description
Tasting notes and characteristics of the 2022 "Bric Turot" cuvée by Antinori - Prunotto
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a deep garnet red hue, enhanced by delicate orange highlights typical of its grape variety.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet stands out for its remarkable clarity, offering scents of red fruits that blend harmoniously with notes of undergrowth and aromatic herbs, all enhanced by floral and spicy touches.
Palate
The attack on the palate is graceful, with a slight sweetness. The wine then reveals a superb concentration supported by tannins of great elegance. The whole offers a remarkable balance that stretches into a long and flavourful finish.
Food and wine pairings
Thanks to its powerful structure, this wine from Piedmont is the ideal accompaniment to dishes rich in flavour. It will enhance slow-cooked meats such as braised beef, pasta served with a meat sauce, or a risotto with mushrooms and truffles. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the complexity of the 2022 "Bric Turot" cuvée, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 18 and 20°C, ideally in large, round glasses.
The elegance of a great Barbaresco by Antinori - Prunotto
The estate
Founded in 1922 by Alfredo Prunotto, who gave his name to the brand after taking over a former cooperative, the estate is located in Alba. A pioneer in the creation of single-vineyard cuvées as early as 1961, this estate in Piedmont now extends over approximately 74 hectares. Since 1994, the renowned Marchesi Antinori family has been the sole owner of the property. Under the current leadership of president Albiera Antinori and oenologist Renzo Cotarella, the Antinori-Prunotto estate carries on a tradition of excellence, combining respect for the historic terroir with innovative viticulture.
The vineyard
The historic parcel that gives rise to this Barbaresco extends over 5 hectares. Nicknamed "the top of the small hill" in local dialect, it rises to an altitude varying between 190 and 230 metres. Benefiting from a dual south-east and south-west exposure, this singular terroir allows the grapes to express great elegance and beautiful complexity.
The vintage
The 2022 season stood out for its early start and singular climatic conditions. After a mild and dry winter, the lack of rainfall continued through spring and summer, limiting the development of the vine and the size of the bunches. Despite these weather-related challenges, the grapes reached perfect health and ripeness at harvest, which took place from 22 September to 4 October.
Winemaking and aging
Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes for the 2022 "Bric Turot" cuvée are destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place over about ten days at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, followed by malolactic fermentation completed before winter. The wine is then aged for at least twelve months in oak barrels of various capacities, a method that allows the aging to be adapted to the specific characteristics of the parcel, before resting for an additional year in bottle.
Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape variety.
