Wine Enthusiast

Anna-Christina Cabrales

Bright and inviting on the nose, with fresh raspberry and wild strawberry layered over yellow plum and a clear stony lift. The palate deepens into violet, black plum and blackberry, carried by a softer mousse and framed by limestone. Elegant and finely balanced, with a clean, stony finish that underscores its finesse.

Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Rosé de Mailly Mailly Grand Cru

Tasting

Nose
The bouquet generously reveals floral notes as well as red fruit aromas.

Palate
On the palate, this champagne captivates with its remarkable balance between expressiveness and finesse. Smooth red fruit flavors mingle with hints of kirsch and citrus.

Food and wine pairings

This champagne is perfect as an aperitif or pairs elegantly with tapas and finely sliced Iberian ham. It also enhances game birds, roasted white meats, venison fillet with lingonberries, or red fruit desserts.

A generous and aromatic Grand Cru rosé champagne

The estate

Founded in 1929 by twenty-four winegrowers united in the face of economic hardship, Mailly Grand Cru remains an exceptional Champagne cooperative located in the Montagne de Reims. Today, it brings together grower-owners cultivating vineyards classified as Grand Cru within the Mailly area. This remarkable geographical singularity, combined with a grape composition dominated by pinot noir and chardonnay on chalky terroir, gives this Champagne House its unique identity, based on a historic cooperative model and an exceptional terroir.

The vineyard

Mailly Grand Cru oversees a 70-hectare terroir spread across more than 600 plots. 80 winegrowers pay meticulous attention to this exceptional Champagne terroir.

The cuvée

This Rosé de Mailly is crafted from vines growing exclusively on the Grand Cru slopes of the Mailly commune, in the Montagne de Reims. These outstanding chalky terroirs, favorably exposed, allow the pinot noir and chardonnay varietals to fully express their character and aromatic potential. Its dosage is 8 g/L.

Winemaking and aging

Manual harvest followed by careful sorting. Several hours of maceration before alcoholic fermentation at 15°C and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats. Aging on lees.

Grape varieties

Pinot noir (90%) vinified by the saignée method from old vines, complemented by just the right proportion of chardonnay and pinot noir vinified as red wine.
