A prestigious heritage
The Champagne House Charles Heidsieck, founded in 1851 in Reims by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, combines audacity and quality. From its beginnings, it distinguished itself by emphasizing wine elaboration and maturation, notably through the purchase of chalk cellars for optimal aging. Visionary, Charles was one of the first to export extensively to the United States. Over the decades, he would become the official supplier to numerous European royal courts. Today, Charles Heidsieck is recognized as a prestigious House, perpetuating historical savoir-faire.
An exceptional terroir in the heart of Champagne
Origins of a unique minerality
Located in Reims, in the heart of Champagne, the House benefits from a privileged location. Its vineyards, close to the property, rest on unique chalky soil, whose excellent water retention favors the development of unique minerality.
Ideal climatic conditions
The temperate climate of Champagne, marked by continental and oceanic influences, creates ideal conditions for slow and balanced grape maturation, essential for developing exceptional aromatic complexity.
A tailored approach
Coming from great Champagne vineyards, only the best grapes are preserved to magnify the nuances and identity of each grape variety. Pinot noir provides structure and power, chardonnay brings finesse and elegance, and pinot meunier adds fruitiness and roundness. Together, these grape varieties form a harmonious balance between concentration, aromatic expression and complexity.
Vinification and aging: goldsmith's work
Vinification begins with manual harvesting, where grapes are meticulously selected to ensure exceptional quality. Pressing is carried out with precision using modern presses, allowing juice extraction while preserving fruit purity. After blending, the wine is aged for several years in cellars, well beyond the minimum requirements of the appellation. This long aging in the House's silent cellars develops complex and flavorful notes as well as a silky texture.
Charles Heidsieck's philosophy continues to inspire, notably through its Cellar Masters, among the most renowned in Champagne. They have been elected "Best Sparkling Wine Cellar Master of the Year" 12 times in 20 years at the prestigious Wine Challenge. After Thierry Roset and Cyril Brun in 2015, it is now Elise Losflet who, since March 2023, perpetuates this quest for excellence.
