Château Carbonnieux 2021

Delicate, lightly smoky, floral, with citrus fruit and herbal notes. On the palate, it is juicy and fresh, a wine with character and drive. Spicy finish. Very elegant this year.

This fresh white has a brisk edge, delivering white peach and yellow apple gelée notes, along with hints of lemon curd and salted butter. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2029. 15,000 cases made, 3,500 cases imported.

This estate, particularly well known for its white wines, has lived up to its reputation in this new release. The wine is rich while also taut, young and textured. Spice from wood aging comes in at the end. Drink from 2026.

Bright and tangy, high acidity with a crispness to the expression - fresh green apple. Almost too tart for me, but it's lifted with lots of energy and a really sherbet-esque edge to the palate which gives character. Lots of citrus lemon and lime adding to the flavours and lingering on the finish.

Honeysuckle, grapefruits, lemon, green apples, spice and white peaches come through with ease in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is zesty, citrusy, brisk and racy with ranges, pineapples, sea salt, and crushed stones that linger in the finish. Drink from 2024-2034.

Medium yellow-green color with silver reflections. Delicate notes of meadow herbs, white tropical fruits, nuances of orange zest, with a hint of peach. Medium body, white orchard fruits, fine acidity, slightly loose-knit, with a fine fruitiness—uncomplicated and pleasant to drink.

The 2021 Château Carbonnieux Blanc is based on 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Sémillon that spent 10 months in barrel before bottling. It’s a bright, juicy, lemon, and green herb-driven white that has bright acidity, good overall mid-palate density, and a clean, crisp finish. It will be incredibly versatile on the dinner table.

Ripe yellow-fruit bouquet with ripe peach, lemongrass and white pepper. On the palate, it is linear, with vibrant energy and supportive minerality. The focused finish shows citrus notes and a finely peppery extract.

One of the great historic whites of Bordeaux, this has lift and crunch, with a deliciously zesty citrus and lime fruit character, clean with wet stones and pink grapefruit. Juicy finish. 30hl/h yield, 25% new oak for ageing, Diam closure. Harvest August 16 to September 1, early for the year, even though these are planted on mainly north-facing slopes.

A blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Semillon, the white 2021 Carbonnieux features bold notions of fresh pears and grapefruit, with touches of lime leaves and sea spray. The light to medium-bodied palate is refreshing, with good intensity and a well-defined finish.

A subtle, delicately complex bouquet, followed by lovely substance on the palate, with lemony and verbena notes, making for a bright, lively wine.

Fresh and fruity, Carbonnieux reveals notes of biscuits, pears and mirabelles, complemented by a mineral touch. Saline on the attack, the wine is lively, juicy and mouthwatering. A real success that can already be enjoyed in its youth, but I would also like to highlight this wine’s excellent ageing potential!

Carbonnieux delivers a wine of great purity, with notes of linden blossom, lime, flinty gunflint and a hint of white pepper. Without being sharp, the palate is fresh and nuanced, with a lime flavour. The 35% of sémillon adds texture and brings everything together. Brilliant.
