Description
An Ample and Vivacious Grand Cru Classé White Wine from Graves
A Grand Cru Classé de Graves located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation in the south of the Bordeaux region, Château Couhins oversees a vineyard with exceptional terroir.
A wine estate that includes both a research center and a production center, Château Couhins benefits from the expertise of INRA, owner of the château since 1969 and producing some of the highest quality wines of this appellation by means of micro-parcel viticulture.
Situated upon a ridge of gravel, the vineyard of Château Couhins benefits from its terroir in various ways. The soil of this region is a combination of gravelly pebbles with clay, ensuring the optimal ripening of the grapes by trapping heat during the day and releasing it overnight. This soil also regulates the level of water through the sponge effect of the clay.
The 2017 vintage required constant attention from the Château Couhins team, guided by the expert advice of the Derenoncourt Consulting group. Château Couhins Blanc 2017 is the perfect reward for all the hard work, displaying an excellent profile and a vintage that favoured the dry whites of Bordeaux.
With a blend dominated by Sauvignon Blanc (98%), supplemented with 2% Sauvignon gris, the Château Couhins Blanc 2017 brilliantly illustrates the aromatic expression of its main grape variety. The olfactory palette exudes freshness, through notes of stone fruits and white-fleshed fruit, like peach and pear, enhanced by generous passion fruit notes and delicate floral touches. The attack on the palate seduces with the perfect balance achieved between density and freshness. The finish prolongs the pleasure with an extraordinary length. A 2017 vintage that promises to be a great success for Château Couhins.
