Description
The Elegance and Freshness of a White Wine from the Mercurey Appellation
The Estate
Established in 1932 upon its acquisition by the Devillard family, Château de Chamirey is a historic figure of Burgundy. Located in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, this estate spans 37 hectares of vines. Now led by Amaury and Aurore Devillard, who represent the fifth generation, the estate stands out for its respectful approach to the terroir. A pioneer in estate bottling as early as 1934, the estate embodies a family expertise passed down with passion.
The Vineyard
The vines flourish within the Mercurey appellation. The terroir is composed of a complex geological mosaic blending marl and limestone. Sheltered by the surrounding hills, the vineyard benefits from a semi-continental climate offering ideal conditions for the ripening of Chardonnay grapes.
The Vintage
The year 2022 began with a mild winter followed by a gentle spring. The summer proved warm and sunny, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness while retaining a lovely freshness, an essential characteristic of the region's great white wines.
Winemaking and Aging
The grapes are harvested by hand. After gentle pressing, the musts ferment in oak barrels and vats. The wine is then aged on fine lees for several months, adding complexity and texture.
Grape Variety
Chardonnay (100%).
