Description
The harmony and freshness of a great Saint-Émilion wine
The estate
The terroir of Château Faugères dates back to the 19th century. In 1987, it was inherited by Pierre-Bernard Guisez and his wife, who, with the collaboration of Michel Rolland, turned this vineyard into one of the flagships of the appellation Saint-Émilion Grand Cru by instilling a quest for quality and a determination to showcase a unique terroir.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Faugères covers 37 hectares within the appellation Saint-Émilion. The vineyard is managed according to sustainable agriculture principles.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage is a milestone year for Château Faugères. The remarkable terroir of Saint-Émilion, ideally south-facing, evolved perfectly during this 2019 season. Thanks to its mosaic of terroirs, the vineyard was able to withstand the summer heat. Harvesting began relatively early and was carried out according to the ripening of the berries to create a blend of outstanding quality.
Vinification
Manual harvesting from September 18 to October 8. Maceration for 25 to 30 days. Aged for 12 months in barrels: one-third in new French oak barrels, one-third in one-year-old barrels, and one-third in two-year-old barrels.
Blend
Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (21%), Cabernet Sauvignon (9%).
