Description
A fresh and elegant Sauternes wine
The estate
A First Classified Growth of Sauternes in 1855, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the most prestigious names in the iconic sweet wine appellation located in the south of the Bordeaux region.
The vineyard
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2021 is a Sauternes wine that stems from plots of land known as "l'Enclos" and "Maisons Rouges", the historic 1855 terroir at the heart of the estate, covering 16 hectares.
The wine
A vintage with extreme weather conditions, 2021 is marked by very low yields (5 hl/ha). In order to magnify the rarity and excellence of this exceptional vintage, the bottles and half-bottles are numbered and have a collector's label. Created by the Artistic Director of Maison Lalique, this label portrays a vine-like design with a representation of a winegrower, inspired by the Schlumberger design by René Lalique in 1925.
Vinification and ageing
Harvesting from October 2nd to 29th in 3 selections. Fermentation for 10 to 15 days in 225-litre French oak barrels. The wine is aged for 10 months in barrels (1/3 of which are new), followed by 8 months in stainless steel tanks.
The blend
Sémillon (93%)
Sauvignon Blanc (7%).
