A Sauternes wine with floral elegance by Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey
The estate
Located on the heights of the village of Bommes in the Bordeaux region, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a prestigious estate in the Sauternes appellation. While its architectural origins date back to the Middle Ages, its winegrowing activity began in 1618 with the planting of the first vines. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru in 1855, this historic vineyard has belonged since 2014 to Silvio Denz, who has successfully combined the world of wine with that of the renowned crystal house Lalique. Today, the estate embodies excellence through an approach that blends tradition, haute gastronomy, and the art of living.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from an 18-hectare area within the Sauternes appellation. The vines benefit from an exceptional geographical location on the highest terrace in the area, at around seventy meters above sea level. They thrive on soils composed of Quaternary gravel resting on a limestone substrate, as well as on terroirs combining clay and silica. The unique microclimate, created by the meeting of the Garonne and the Ciron, promotes the development of the autumn mists essential for the formation of noble rot. Yields are particularly controlled, reaching just 12 hl/ha.
The vintage
The year 2025 was marked by weather conditions particularly favorable to the development of botrytis. After a season with moderate yields, beneficial rainfall between the end of August and mid-September created an optimal environment for berry concentration. Harvesting then took place from September 16 to October 9, requiring three successive and meticulous selections to ensure only perfectly botrytized grapes were picked.
Winemaking and aging
Fermentation takes place over twenty days in 225-liter French oak barrels. The wine is then aged entirely in barrels for nine months. Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.
Grape variety
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2025 is made from 100% Sémillon.
