Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of Château Léoville Barton 2025
Tasting
Appearance
Beautiful deep, purple-tinged colour.
Nose
The nose is both refined and dense. With swirling, notes of raspberry and crushed blackberry emerge, all underpinned by a balsamic character (cedar).
Palate
The attack is lively and precise. The mid-palate is aromatic, highly drinkable and fresh, rather taut and sappy on tannins of great maturity and fine grain. The finish is elegant and long, driven by the fruit.
A rich and precise Saint-Julien wine
The estate
An essential benchmark of Bordeaux's Left Bank, Château Léoville Barton was acquired by the Barton family in 1826. Classified as a 2ème Grand Cru since 1855, the estate, still run by the descendants of Hugh Barton, stands out for its commitment to elegance and stylistic consistency.
The vineyard
The vineyard extends over 50 hectares in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. The vines are planted on an exceptional terroir composed of deep gravel resting on a clay subsoil, typical of the great crus of the Médoc. This geological composition provides ideal natural drainage while allowing the roots to draw the necessary nutrients from deep down. The average age of the vines reaches 38 years, lending concentration and complexity to this benchmark among Bordeaux wines.
Grape varieties
86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot.
