The richness and elegance of a fine Pauillac red wine

The estate

Situated at the entrance of Pauillac, Château Lynch Bages is an estate that has left its mark on the history of the Médoc wine region. Although the terroir of Bages has been known since the 16th century, it wasn’t until the 18th century that it gained its recognition. With the son of an Irish citizen named Thomas Lynch at the helm, the Bages wine was recognised at the Universal Exhibition in Paris. Château Lynch-Bages became part of the J-M Cazes family on the eve of the Second World War and is one of the finest references among the fine Pauillac wines.

Constantly seeking both excellence and innovation, Château Lynch-Bages carried out a new plot division in 2006, breaking down 90 original plots used for the production of wine into 180 to 200 sub-plots. The 2020 vintage is the first vintage to be produced in Château Lynch-Bages' brand new infrastructures. Designed by the architect Chien Chung (Didi) Pei, internationally renowned for his sleek architectural style, the new vat room and ageing cellar are state-of-the-art facilities designed to enhance the terroir of this iconic Pauillac estate through a skilful vinification process.

The vineyard

Château Lynch-Bages watches over a 90-hectare vineyard that rests on Garonne gravel.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted in the vineyard. Malolactic fermentation is carried out 1/3 in vats and 2/3 in barrels. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels (75% new oak).

The blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (70%)

Merlot (24%)

Cabernet Franc (4%)

Petit Verdot (2%).

Château Lynch-Bages 2015: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

Brilliant, with subtle purple hues.

Expressive, the nose mixes fruity fragrances (blackcurrant, black fruit) with flavoursome smoky notes conferred by the ageing period.

A frank attack precedes an ample and supple palate. The palate is seductive with its silky tannic structure and its long finish.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Lynch Bages offers up crushed black berries, black cherries and dried herbs with an earthy undercurrent. The medium-bodied palate is firm and taut with lively fruit and a chewy finish.
