Château Lynch-Bages crafts a Pauillac wine combining concentration and elegance

The estate
Founded in 1749 by Thomas Lynch, the Château Lynch-Bages is an iconic property of Bordeaux, located in the Pauillac appellation. This historic estate, classified as Cinquième Cru in 1855, extends over 105 hectares. Today, Jean-Charles Cazes heads the property, succeeding his father Jean-Michel Cazes. He perpetuates the excellence of this vineyard by combining tradition and innovation. A true benchmark brand on the international stage, the estate is often referred to as a "Super Second" thanks to the consistency and exceptional quality of its wines.

The vineyard
Located on the Bages plateau in Pauillac, the vineyard rests on terraces of Garonne gravel over a subsoil of clay and limestone. These well-draining soils promote deep vine rooting. The proximity of the Gironde estuary plays a role as a thermal regulator. The estate practices precision viticulture, relying on satellite mapping and sustainable methods aimed at preserving biodiversity.

The vintage
This vintage is among the earliest since 1989. After a mild winter, budbreak occurred early and evenly from March 20. The warm, dry spring provided excellent growing conditions. The summer was marked by two successive heatwaves, triggering veraison as early as July 14. At the end of August, welcome rainfall helped limit water stress and supported the final ripening phase through to harvest.

Winemaking and aging
The harvest is carried out manually, followed by meticulous selective sorting in the vineyard and on sorting tables. The average yield stands at 30 hL/ha. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with 75% new oak. Alcohol: 13.3% vol.

Grape varieties
This Château Lynch-Bages 2025 is a blend of 66% cabernet sauvignon, 28% merlot, 3% cabernet franc, and 3% petit verdot.
