The estate

Founded in 1749, when it passed into the hands of the Irish family whose name it bears, Château Lynch-Bages is a true Bordeaux icon. This Fifth Growth has established itself as an essential benchmark, renowned for rivalling the very greatest wines. Owned by the Cazes family since 1939, the estate is now run by Jean-Charles Cazes. Covering just over a hundred hectares, the property brilliantly combines historic tradition with technical modernity, embodying values of excellence and innovation while preserving its rich vine heritage.

The vineyard

Located on the outskirts of the commune of Pauillac, the vineyard flourishes on the famous Bages plateau. The vines enjoy a superb rise of deep Garonne gravel over a subsoil of marl and limestone. This privileged location, close to the Gironde estuary, benefits from a temperate oceanic climate that is ideal for ripening the grapes. The estate practises sustainable viticulture, paying particular attention to massal selection to preserve its old vines, some of which are ninety years old. The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously sorted.

The "IF 6 WAS 9" box set, named after a song by Jimmy Hendrix, is a limited edition featuring two landmark vintages in the estate's history:

Château Lynch-Bages 2009
A sun-drenched vintage, the 2009 displays generous, rich fruit supported by ripe tannins and lovely breadth. Combining power and balance, it shows excellent ageing potential.

Château Lynch-Bages 2016
A vintage of great breeding, the 2016 elegantly combines concentration and freshness. Its intense black fruit aromas, dense texture and silky tannins make it an accomplished and remarkably harmonious expression.
