Vinum

Ripe-fruited, exotic, citrusy, with spice from the high Sémillon proportion; a delicate palate, crisp, fresh, mineral-driven, vertical, slender, light-footed yet powerful. Something serious is happening here in white.

Great depth and freshness, fleshy nectarine and spiced pear, fennel and oyster shell, grilled oak and generosity. Balances salinity and flesh, expertly judged. Harvest August 29 to September 6, 45% new oak for ageing. Co-fermented Muscadelle with Sauvignon Gris.

Le Figaro Vin

Score: 90–92. Aromas of pear sorbet and rhubarb candies, highlighted by hints of precious metals, lead into a limpid, fluid, vanilla-tinged palate marked by vibrant acidity.

Vertdevin

A lovely fruity nose—fresh, straightforward, precise. It shows notes of fresh quince, fresh nectarine, and, more subtly, fresh white grapefruit, with fine touches of white flowers and honeysuckle, plus a discreet hint of quenette and acacia blossom, and an imperceptible almost saline note. The palate is attractively mineral, fruity, gourmand, and precise, perfectly balanced, with lovely juiciness and bright fruit, a subtle crunch in the background, a savory edge, and fine sapidity. It reveals notes of juicy/fresh nectarine, fresh quenette, and, more delicately, crushed small white fruits, joined by a touch of kumquat and fresh quince, as well as a discreet hint of toasted almond, fresh-toast nuances, and a subtle saline/iodine note. Beautiful freshness and juiciness, supple, with a slight spherical feel. A subtle almost toasted/saline note lingers on the finish.

Decanter

Lovely sweet, rich nose, some honeyed notes with dried flowers, lemon balm, tangerine and oyster shell. Ripe and clean, a great balance of soft sweet lemon and peach with stony apricot and touches of lime. A great initial burst of flavour with high acidity giving a mouthwatering freshness. Clean and precise, fresh, finessed and deep. 0.5% Muscadelle completes the blend.

Honeysuckle, white peaches, orange rind, and vanilla aromatics pop in the nose. Vivacious, energetic, and creamy, with the perfect honey accent that adds complexity to all the sweet, ripe, juicy, fresh, yellow citrus and pineapple. You can enjoy this on release. The wine was made from a blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 44% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Gris and 0.5% Muscadelle. Drink from 2025-2033. 94 Pts.

The vivacity and aromatic expression of a dry white Bordeaux wine

The estate

It was in 1853 that Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild acquired Château Brane-Mouton at auction. The estate, located in the heart of the Médoc, in Pauillac, was then renamed Château Mouton Rothschild. In 1922, Baron Philippe de Rothschild took over the reins of the estate. Visionary, he decided to initiate in 1924 the complete bottling at the château while entrusting the illustration of the cru label to an artist. Each year since 1945, the label of Château Mouton Rothschild is illustrated by the original work of a great contemporary artist. Dalí, César, Miró, Chagall, Warhol, Soulages, Bacon, Balthus, Tàpies, Koons, Doig… an exciting collection that grows each year with a new work and constitutes the famous exhibition "Art and Label". Emblem of the Pauillac appellation, this Premier Cru Classé makes the great wines of Bordeaux shine throughout the world. Today, it is the three children of Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, Camille and Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild who preside over the destiny of Château Mouton Rothschild.

The vineyard

Aile d'Argent is a dry white Bordeaux wine produced by Château Mouton Rothschild located northwest of Bordeaux, in Pauillac. Covering an area of 9 hectares, this terroir with vines averaging 14 years old is planted on pebbly gravel soils that capture heat and release it during the night, thus promoting the ripening of the grapes. These draining soils rest on a clay-gravel subsoil, giving the wines of Château Mouton Rothschild a unique power, elegance and structure.

The vintage

Mild and relatively humid, the spring promotes rapid vegetative growth. The bud break in early April is not impacted by the frost episode at this time. Flowering is recorded at the end of May with a 5-day lead. Despite June being recognised as the hottest since 1962, the vineyard maintains its lead. The end of summer is punctuated by two heatwave episodes at the end of August and beginning of September before the start of the harvest, which is partly carried out under unstable conditions.
