Château Olivier 2021

Vibrant, with delicious white peach and white apricot notes, laced with chamomile, honeysuckle and salted butter accents. The fun, juicy finish has excellent energy. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2027. 1,500 cases made, 300 cases imported.

Lemon and lime, nice freshness and a sense of lift. Precision with purity of texture and fruit, with plenty of salty tones on the finish and along the edges of the mouth. Mouthwatering acidity brings life; this has an easy balance and good drinkability. A touch bitter and toasted on the finish, which will settle.

Green apples, green pears, white flowers, spice, and yellow citrus with orange peel aromas fill the bouquet. The palate is sweet, vibrant, fresh, and fruity, with a long, graceful burst of lemons on the finish. The wine blends 80% Sauvignon Blanc with 20% Semillon. Drink from 2024–2033.

Light green-yellow colour with silver reflections. Delicate notes of fresh orange zest, a hint of yellow tropical fruits, some peach and blossom honey. Medium complexity, white apples, fresh acidity, mineral and lemony finish, balanced and already easy to drink, versatile.

Tart melon, lemon curd, crushed stone, and some minty herb notes all emerge from the 2021 Château Olivier Blanc, a terrific medium-bodied white based on 80% Sauvignon and 20% Sémillon. It will keep for at least 7–8 years, although I see no need to delay gratification.

Excellent in bottle as it was En Primeur, with Sauvignon Blanc-dominant aromatics, mouthwatering slate, apple and white pear, elderflower and wet stones. The body of the wine is slim and savoury, finessed and charming. Harvest September 8 to 16, Lauren Lebrun director.

The white 2021 Olivier has lively notions of grapefruit and Granny Smith apples leading on the nose, opening out to wafts of lime leaves and crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate has great tension and expression, with a long zesty finish.

Delicate on the nose, with a lovely herbal touch. It is discreet on the attack, like a kind old lady with a frail voice, but becomes more expressive on the finish, with intriguing smoky notes.

Pale color. Intense, fruity nose with a clear sauvignon character. Palate with a refined touch, showing sauvignon’s fruity aromas nuanced by notes of exotic fruit. A silky whole, slightly discreet on the finish. Blend: 80% sauvignon, 20% sémillon. Alcohol: 13.5%. Yield: 40 hl/ha.

Sauvignon takes center stage in this blend (80%) and fully expresses itself with intense notes of ripe pink grapefruit and subtle floral hints. On the palate, there is tension and a certain mineral edge with freshness. Sémillon adds complexity, bringing a very pleasant roundness and delicate empyreumatic notes.

Fresher and less marked by oak than en primeur. Soft and round on the palate, with creaminess and substance; balance and length are there. Not highly complex, but with drive and lovely balance.

Such finesse and precision in this wine! Fresh and inviting, it shows a saline, mouthwatering attack. An ambitious wine with pep and structure. The latter ensures a refreshing, savory character, but it will also be very interesting to follow this wine as it evolves… if one is patient enough. That’s the challenge!

From the secluded Bethmann family estate surrounded by woods and dominated by its medieval castle, this wine is richly textured with spice and full tropical-fruit flavors. It is a ripe wine that will be ready from 2026.
