Château Roylland 2022

Cool smoke, cherries, black tea, plums; taut palate, delicate fruit, fluffy tannins, finishing on sour cherries. Has developed well since En Primeur.

A well-built, chalky and pulpy red with aromas of red berries, sweet cherries, wild herbs and baking spices, following through to a medium body with fine, firm tannins. Quite focused, with more berries on the palate, some raw cocoa and a compact, textural finish. Try from 2027.

The 2022 Roylland turned out beautifully. Dark, layered and wonderfully vibrant, the 2022 is all charm. Crushed flowers, mint, lavender, spice and espresso all grace this mid-weight, aromatic Saint-Émilion.

Licorice, herbs, flowers, truffle, and dark pit fruit aromas open the wine. There is richness and lift on the palate, perfect for the chocolaty fruits with their salty edge that lingers. Drink from 2025-2040.

Deep ruby, opaque core, purple reflections. Nuances of blueberries, black cherries, fine herbal savouriness, notes of orange zest in the background. Juicy, elegant, ripe cherries, fresh acidity, delicate, precise and long-lasting. Very promising with certain ageing potential. A great leap in conversion to organic.

The 2022 Château Roullet is a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, offering charming, forward notes of blackcurrants, baking spices, savory flowers, and tobacco. Medium-bodied, nicely balanced, and elegant on the palate, it has ripe tannins and a textured feel. Aged for 14 months in 60% new oak barrels, it’s going to drink well for 10-12 years. Total production: 750 cases.

Delicate and subtle, the bouquet reveals filigree nuances of black berries, licorice, and peonies. In keeping with the bouquet, the attack shows freshness. The wine is linear, mouthwatering, and even saline on the finish. A wine of character and fine definition that can already be enjoyed in its youth, yet offers solid potential!

Here is the worthy successor to the excellent 2016. Dark, deep purple hue. An intense nose with ripe, pure, and subtle fruit. Soft on the attack, velvety mid-palate, the wine unfolds juicy and above all very fruity. Fleshy finish that doesn’t show the tannin. A profile with record creaminess. Bravo! Blend: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Yield: 45 hl/ha.
