Clos de Tart : Clos de Tart Grand cru Monopole 2022

The 2022 Clos de Tart is a surprisingly deep colour endowed with pronounced cassis and pomegranate aromas, rose petals, liquorice, and a savoury game note. The texture is silky and fresh but not lacking in body—it is an exquisite balance, made more delightful by the charming sweetness of the fruit on the palate. The best grapes of the Clos were carefully fermented, with just over half of them fermented as whole clusters. The wine is ageing now in cask (60% new), where it will stay for at least 20 months.

I tasted the 2022 Clos de Tart Grand Cru from a wide Burgundy-type glass. It feels a little closed at the moment after bottling. Redcurrant/cranberry fruit opens, with darker fruit emerging with aeration. Hints of wild mint and thyme linger in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with bold tannins, but there is sufficient fruit to back it up. There is firm grip toward the finish, where I would just like a little more transparency and Pinoté, hence my score.
