Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" Joseph Faiveley 2024 from Domaine Faiveley
Tasting
Appearance
Beautiful white-hued robe.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is seductive, with scents of fresh lemon and subtle notes of exotic fruits, delicately underlined by nuances of almond and toasted bread from its time in barrel.
Palate
The attack is clean and marked by a lovely minerality. The palate then evolves towards a rich texture with flavours of vineyard peach, exotic fruits and salted butter caramel. The whole is supported by a taut acidity that draws the wine towards a finish of remarkable length.
Food and wine pairings
This great white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as lobster or grilled langoustines, as well as with pan-fried fish. It will also elevate dishes in creamy sauce, a mushroom risotto or characterful cheeses such as Comté and Brie de Meaux.
Serving and cellaring
For an optimal tasting experience, it is recommended to serve this Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" Joseph Faiveley 2024 at a temperature between 13 and 15°C. A gentle aeration in a decanter or in the glass will allow it to fully open up. Built for ageing, this wine can rest in the cellar and be enjoyed until around 2039.

The estate
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley stands as a true institution in Burgundy. Today led by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, who represent the seventh generation, the estate oversees a vast vineyard of more than 120 hectares spread across the most prestigious terroirs of the region. Combining respect for tradition with a forward-looking vision, the estate distinguishes itself through its strong environmental commitment, with organic certification planned for 2025, reflecting its determination to preserve the authenticity of its great wines.
The vineyard
The Premier Cru climat "La Garenne" extends over approximately 9 hectares within the prestigious Puligny-Montrachet appellation. Ideally located on the upper part of the slope, above the lieu-dit "Champ Gain", the vines benefit from a beautiful south to south-east exposure. They thrive on shallow soils, composed of brown marl alternating with limestone, forcing the root system to draw its nutrients from deep down. This singular terroir is cultivated according to the principles of organic farming.
The vintage
The year 2024 required constant attention in the vineyards. The distinctive phenology of this growing cycle called for rigorous vineyard management and extremely precise decision-making when setting the harvest date, in order to guarantee optimal quality of the berries.
Winemaking and ageing
After manual harvesting and meticulous sorting, the berries are conveyed by gravity into wooden vats. The fermentation of this Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" Joseph Faiveley 2024 is carried out in a way that allows the terroir to express itself fully. The wine then benefits from ageing of 17 to 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 40 to 50% are new, accompanied by regular bâtonnage to harmonise the whole.
