Description
Elegant and intense, an alluring Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru
The estate
Founded in 1782 and present in 9 Burgundian appellations, Domaine Henri Rebourseau is one of the estates which owns the most extensive surface area of Grands Crus in the Côte de Nuits. The estate hails its exceptional heritage-filled vines, resting on land that has been cultivated for over 1400 years. Today, the de Surrel family watch over this exceptional heritage by carrying out organic and biodynamic farming practices. Thus, there is no unique "Rebourseau taste" and the quality-oriented approach emphasises the crucial part that the ''climat'' plays in the production of fine wines.
The vineyard
Domaine Henri Rebourseau spreads over the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er cru "Fonteny" 2019 stems from the eponymous climat that is rooted in limestone soils. The 0.8-hectare plot in Gevrey-Chambertin is home to 43-year-old vines that are completely protected from the northern winds and situated at the bottom of the hillside. These conditions result in generous soils and lead to the production of surprisingly vigorous wines.
The wine
Oenologist Jacky Rigaud describes Fonteny as "one of those climates that is blessed with grace without necessarily being able to explain why."
The blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
