Domaine Laporte : La Comtesse 2022

The 2022 Sancerre La Comtesse, crafted from vines planted in the village of Chavignol, exhales a minty bouquet with aromas of anise, iodine, and fresh grapes, followed by a medium-bodied, balanced and tense palate that segues into an ethereal, fresh finish. No malolactic fermentation.

A silky, stylish version, with flint-edged green pea, lime zest and verbena notes infusing the core of creamy ripe apple. Shows tannic grip through the racy, lingering finish. Drink now through 2027. 200 cases imported.

Fresh pears, green apples, yellow plums and some fresh flowers on the nose follow through to a medium body with bright acidity. Vivid and precise with a caressing texture and a lively center-palate, full of tension. Mineral, yet there is a juicy green apple character coming through in the background. Focused finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

This is classic Sancerre that is multifaceted and true to the region. This wine has a beautiful, herbal nose of dried grass clippings, golden apple, pear, forest floor, hay and dried white blossom. On the palate the wine is somewhat creamy in texture with a long finish.
