The estate

Domaine Matrot has been producing exceptional wines in the emblematic appellations of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Blagny for 6 generations.

Adèle and Elsa Matrot joined their parents and contributed to the running of the estate a few years ago. 2016 is the first vintage produced by the two sisters, who continue to strive for excellence and who seek to make fine wine that reflect the characteristics of each vintage and of these great Burgundy terroirs.

In 1976, Thierry Matrot introduced integrated vineyard management at the estate, and in 2000 the entire 24-hectare vineyard was converted to integrated viticultural practices.

Domaine Matrot is known for its highly fine and ageworthy wines.

The vineyard

A neighbour of the Meursault Blagny Premier Cru white terroir, Domaine Matrot's 2017 Blagny ''La Pièce sous le Bois'' Premier Cru stems from a parcel of vines that are 35 years old on average.

The Côte de Beaune appellations where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are present on the same plot and with a limestone soil are few and far between.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes are harvested by hand and destemmed. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts. Punching of the cap twice a day may be carried out if necessary. The wine is aged for 15 months in oak barrels, 20% of which are new. Following racking, the end of the ageing is carried out in vats for 3 months. Filtration before bottling.
