An Anjou Chenin Blanc from an Exceptional Loire Terroir

The Estate

Le Domaine Ogereau, established in the 1890s in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay in Anjou, cultivates 23.8 hectares of vines in the Loire Valley. Led by Emmanuel Ogereau, the fifth generation of this family estate, the operation focuses on chenin blanc and cabernet franc on schist terroirs. Certified organic since 2018 and in biodynamic conversion, it produces remarkable cuvées under the appellations Anjou, Coteaux du Layon, Quart de Chaume Grand Cru, and Savennières.

The Vineyard

This white wine from the Loire comes from vineyards located in the lieu-dit La Martinière, a monopole plot in Rochefort-sur-Loire. South-southwest facing with a 30 to 40% slope, this vineyard rests on schist and puddingstone soils.

Winemaking and Aging

Hand-harvested grapes. The winemaking of La Martinière 2022 begins with a four-hour whole-cluster pressing followed by a slight settling. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in 400-liter barrels with no new oak. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation precedes a 10-month aging on full lees in barrels.

Grape Variety

This Anjou wine is 100% chenin blanc.
