Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for L'Etoile Chardonnay 2024 from Domaine Rolet
Tasting
Colour
The wine shows a pale, brilliant gold hue with subtle green highlights, characteristic of a young Chardonnay.
Nose
The nose reveals aromas of dried fruit, notably almond, together with floral notes of acacia, elderflower and chamomile. Smoky, buttery and toasty touches from ageing mingle with mineral nuances of chalk and flint, a testament to the original terroir.
Palate
The palate is rich and brioche-like, carried by a lovely acidic tension. Notes of chalk and flint return on the palate, alongside floral and buttery touches, leading to a long finish where minerality and salinity linger persistently.
Food and wine pairing
This wine is an ideal match for seafood and fish, whose freshness and salinity it highlights thanks to its own minerality.
Serving and cellaring
L'Etoile Chardonnay 2024 Domaine Rolet is best enjoyed at a temperature of around 11 to 13°C. This wine has an ageing potential of up to eight to ten years.

The estate
Founded in 1942 in Arbois by Désiré Rolet, Domaine Rolet has grown over the decades to become one of the jewels of the Jura vineyards, today farming approximately 65 hectares spread across the Arbois, Côtes du Jura, L'Etoile and Château-Chalon appellations. Since 2018, the estate has been owned by a group of passionate investor families, including the Flambert and Dupuis families, with Christophe Flambert serving as manager since 2020. The technical team, led by Cédric Ducoté, Chloé Weber and Louis Morel, upholds demanding practices, including exclusively hand-harvested grapes, while guiding the estate through its conversion to organic farming.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from the En Novalet plot, a south-facing slope located within the L'Etoile appellation. The soil is made up of grey Liassic marls covered with silty scree, and contains small fossilised stars known as pentacrines, which gave the appellation its name. This exposure and soil type favour optimal ripening of the Chardonnay while preserving a freshness typical of the Jura climate.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes for L'Etoile Chardonnay 2024 are hand-harvested from the En Novalet plot. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, followed by extended ageing on fine lees, also in barrels, which contributes to the wine's texture and aromatic complexity while preserving its minerality.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
