The authentic expression of a multifaceted terroir in the Rhône Valley

The estate

Founded in 1874 by the Gras family, Domaine Santa Duc is a historic estate in the Rhône Valley, originally established in Gigondas. Now run by Benjamin Gras, representing the sixth generation, the estate spans around thirty hectares. A pioneer of organic viticulture in the region under the impetus of Yves Gras as early as 1985, the vineyard is now certified biodynamic. The estate's name pays tribute to the eagle owl, the vines' nocturnal guardian, symbolising the family's deep respect for its ecosystem and the authentic expression of its terroirs.

The vineyard

The grapes for this cuvée come from four distinct communes in the southern part of the Rhône Valley: Vacqueyras, Rasteau, Roaix and Séguret. As part of the mosaic of Côtes du Rhône Villages, these terroirs benefit from a Mediterranean climate. The vines flourish under strong summer sunshine, gently swept by the steady breath of the mistral, giving the berries a unique geographical and geological identity.

Winemaking and aging

The production of the "Les Quatre Terres" 2024 cuvée relies on modern facilities designed to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The estate favours a gravity-based approach, using carts and winches to move the grapes, whether destemmed or as whole bunches. This gentle method limits mechanical handling and reflects a low-intervention winemaking philosophy aimed at preserving the purity of the berries.

Grape varieties

This blend is made up of Grenache (70%), Syrah (15%), Mourvèdre (10%), as well as Carignan and Cinsault (5%).
