Description
Famille Bourgeois Le Graveron 2014: A Red Sancerre with Black Fruit Aromas
Produced in the Sancerre appellation of the Loire Valley by the Famille Bourgeois, the Le Graveron cuvée is a single-vineyard, single-varietal Pinot Noir wine. The vines, aged 20 years on average, grow in the signature Kimmeridgian mark soils of Chavignol, situated in the western side of Sancerre, on La Cote des Monts Damne. The fruit for this wine is harvested from a single plot of 1.30 hectares.
In the glass, the Famille Bourgeois Le Graveron 2014 displays a deep red colour with garnet reflections. The nose reveals beautiful red and black fruit aromas, along with touches of freshly cooked caramel. As the wine opens, hints of chocolate and spice come through as well. On the palate, this Red Sancerre offers very refined and silky-smooth tannins, providing a gorgeous, lacy and fine structure to this Pinot Noir. An unctous mouthfeel, coupled by a beautiful freshness, persists into a vibrant finish, bursting with notes of chocolate-covered red fruits.
