Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Famille Perrin Chassangre Blanc 2025
Tasting Notes
Appearance
This wine reveals a golden colour, at once bright and limpid, flecked with delicate silvery hues.
Nose
Particularly enticing and expressive, the aromatic bouquet releases beguiling scents of white flowers and yellow fruit, subtly underscored by notes reminiscent of pastry.
Palate
The attack is clean and precise, carried by citrus flavours. The palate then develops beautiful breadth, offering a silky texture and plenty of roundness. The finish lingers gracefully, marked by an elegant touch of bitterness and a refreshing salinity.
Food and Wine Pairings
This cuvée pairs beautifully with grilled fish featuring Mediterranean flavours, such as sea bass with olives and candied lemon, or warm goat's cheese finished with honey and herbs.
The Elegance of a Great White Wine from IGP Méditerranée by Famille Perrin
The Estate
The winemaking adventure of the Famille Perrin truly began in 1909 with Pierre Tramier's acquisition of Château de Beaucastel. Today, the estate is run by Jean-Pierre and François Perrin, supported by the fifth generation. Based in the South-East of France, the family has established itself as an essential reference in the Rhône Valley, notably thanks to its pioneering role in organic and biodynamic viticulture. Renowned worldwide, the family has also successfully developed the La Vieille Ferme brand, all while showcasing the diversity of Rhône terroirs.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this IGP Méditerranée cuvée come from carefully selected plots planted on limestone soils. To ensure lovely tension and vibrant minerality, the vines benefit from a north-facing orientation or are planted at altitude. This terroir also benefits from the drying influence of the Mistral, a wind that ensures optimal sanitary conditions for the grapes throughout their development.
The Vintage
The year 2025 stood out for a particularly sunny and hot summer season, marked by heatwave episodes in August. These conditions produced small berries, favouring beautiful concentration in the juice. Fortunately, cool nights helped preserve acidity and safeguard aromatic finesse. Although some rainfall occurred towards the end of the harvest, the Mistral's breath kept the grapes in perfect health.
Winemaking and Ageing
The Chassangre Blanc 2025 is crafted in the cellar following an approach reminiscent of Côtes du Rhône white wine style. Temperatures are meticulously controlled during fermentation to capture the brightness of peach and white-fleshed fruit aromas. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to bring greater richness and suppleness. Finally, careful ageing on fine lees gives the cuvée its volume and silky texture.
Grape Varieties
This wine is a blend of Grenache Blanc, Vermentino and Viognier.
